When giving critiques or making a comment about someones work, I like to be up front and honest about how I view it because I like to get the same thing in return. As an artists, we tend to get too close to our work while not catching simple mistakes by not zooming in or out and flipping our canvas (for the digital painting artists out there). I personally practice both of these things, but at times I need another artist's eye. It's even better if they understand or mastered the basics. Those who do tend to have a more thorough and helpful critique. When I critique, I like to think I am not a jerk about what I say. I give complements where i
